Located in the suburb of Dallas, Rockwall is located in and is the county seat of Rockwall County, Texas, and falls under the Dallas/Fort worth Metroplex. The name of the city comes from a geological formation, which appears like a wall. The highest point in Rockwall is the First Baptist Church. It is located on the Lake Ray Hubbard.
According to the US Census Bureau, Rockwall stretches over 31.6 square miles and the population is 41,785. The population density is 1322.3 people per square mile. The city receives 41 inches of rain and 1 inch of snowfall each year. The hottest month is July with a high of 94 degrees and the coolest month is January with a low of 34 degrees.
In 1851, Anglo-Americans moved to this area and dug up wells. They discovered rock walls while digging, which appeared natural. As a result, when the town was established on April 17, 1854, it was named after the natural rock walls. The Rockwall region was occupied by Caddo Indians. Later, Creek Indians moved to this area in the early 19th century.
